The Brockweir Shop on the River Wye is in an area of outstanding national beauty and a result of the efforts and faith of an intrepid group of local people. Needing a village shop/Centre funds were raised to provide an "eco" building with a difference. This innovative Centre offers year round Exhibitions of local artists and makers. From February 8th to March 22nd Allan Grant exhibits his work.
In the large and airy shop there's excellent local produce, delicious foods,Cafe,library,Prints and cards are also available. There's a meeting room,I.T. Training and Digital Photography Courses. A River walk, a coffee & home made cake in the cafe or outside looking at the views, is a nice day out. The Building is beautifully made from locally sourced green oak,the barn like structure was designed to fit in with the local landscape, uses a photo-voltaic system to produce electricity, a low energy heating system and a very high thermal insulation in its construction. Alison is the Manager, shop staffed by local volunteers. Open Monday - Saturday 8.30am - 7pm. Sundays 10am - 4pm. Lots of parking and disabled access.
