David Yeates 2011 -has just opened a Masons shop in Evesham Worcestershire. Called "Simply Stone" 58 Pont Street. David is now offering a full and individual service as a Memorial Mason. Headstones, ornamental carvings, sculptures and personalised pieces in a choice of granites, marble and stone. A creative and experienced sculptor and stone mason with over 30 years experience,his work includes commemorative pieces with hand cut lettering, stone benches, house signs of stone or slate, carved stonework -figurative and restorative, in a variety of styles. He has also created carved murals and site specific sculptures. Having worked in a foundry, David has experience of producing sculptural ceramic pieces and of lost wax bronze casting. A knowlegable & reliable Sculptor contributor to workshops in stone carving for Communities/ Schools/ Museums, Arts and Crafts Fairs & Festivals, David has led David studied Fine Art at the Royal Forest of Dean College, he attained a B.A. Hons in Art & Design, specialising in Sculpture, at the West Wales School of Art. Awarded student of the year in stone sculpture, his work was accepted for the Bronze Medal Foundation. David's commissions include sculptural pieces for outdoor projects in gardens & parks or town Sculptural "gateways". One of the latest being a large piece made from Forest stone at Lydney Docks, River Severn. Glos. David is amongst our many talented artists and makers all producing high quality work made in the forest of dean from locally sourced materials. His large scale site specific sculpture project, the GEO MAP -unveiled in May 2008 at New Fancy in the Forest of Dean has just been voted joint winner of the ENI Geological Challenge Award. The "Geological Map" is sited on the top of a hill at New Fancy View.It's laid out as a map of types of stone and minerals, found in the mines & quarries of Dean. Commissioned by The Environment Agency. programmes of activities for younger people and has also taught & worked with people with severe to moderate learning disabilities.
