Both Textiles and Pottery are this talented artists' mediums. Dawn studied at the Royal Forest of Dean College achieving her BTECs in Design Ceramics and Studio Ceramics. She has been in business for some years producing both pottery & woollen goods all made in the Forest of Dean by this talented Forest lady and her mother. She has also taught at Artspace & Taurus Crafts in the Forest of Dean. Her ceramic work is sculptural/semi-functional and influenced by natural forms. She mainly uses red earthenware clay fired to a mid-range temperature. She decorates her pottery using Terra Sigallata Slips and a range of glazes including a textural glaze. Her work at present is focused on abstract designs and the use of carved ceramic tiles to create pictures and Gothic style mirror frames. The tiles are decorated using oxides and molten glass. Dawn's knitwear range is colourful funky and appealing - it includes flower brooches, gloves, hats, scarves & bags. She uses yarn, some locally sourced and finished with handmade ceramic buttons and beads.
