Eileen Green (previously Cole) has been painting for 45 years. A natural observer of Nature she works mainly in acrylics, water colours and also uses pastels, often blending pastels with acrylic paints. You’ll find many paintings of the Forest of Dean and Wye in her collection. Also some of Hereford scenes.
Her absolute reason for painting has been her constant relationship with life outdoors. Born to a farming family, Eileen and sisters Vera and Gwen lived at "Paddock Farm" near Ross on Wye. She was surrounded by woods and apple orchards and spent a happy childhood in the 30's working on the farm, running in the meadows, climbing trees, hiding in the hedgerows and barns and always drawing what she saw and felt. Each season brings newness and joy and this is a feeling she conveys in her work. After raising her family, Eileen joined a Painting Class, and went on to become highly commended member of the West Gloucestershire Art Society. Her various tutors (i.e. Handel Prothero) have described Eileen as a natural talent, her light brushstrokes and use of colour translates so well the freshness of the natural landscapes she loves.
Eileen was commissioned to create a painting for the Violette Szabo Museum near Ross on Wye and was proud to be associated with the life of such a brave woman. Violete Szabo was a most courageous heroine of World War 2.
Eileen has exhibited and sold her paintings of landscapes and local scenes widely. Her paintings help to raise funds for many different charities and she is a prolific painter. She is happy to receive visits in her studio. Phone first please.
