Jonathan is a photographer whose passion is observing the natural landscapes around him using the medium of mono photography. He started taking photographs in the late eighties. He gained his licentiateship of the Royal Photographic Society in 1995. His new exhibition "A World Apart" is at Taurus Arts Centre nr. Lydney. Absorbing and beautifully detailed mono prints of Forest & Wye landscapes. August 6th to September 9th. 2010 Admission free.
Through the works of Ansel Adams and Fay Godwin Jonathan became fascinated with the emotive power of the black and white image and its ability to portray often unseen facets of the landscape and our influence upon it. Frequently using calm and patient juxtapositions between natural beauty and human detritus, he creates shapes and images that highlight how we have refined and reconstructed the landscape. Through these photographs Jonathan hopes to elicit an emotional and thoughtful response from the viewer.
Jonathan is working towards an RPS Associateship with a project based on the Forest of Dean. Jon also runs Gnosis Consultancy and offers a range of IT services including designing & building websites. Recently Jonathan designed and installed a new database for this website.
