Jonathan Attree is a mono photographer whose passion is observing the natural landscapes around him using the medium of mono photography. He started taking photographs in the late eighties. He gained his Licentiateship of the Royal Photographic Society in 1995. He recently exhibited new work including digital work in "A World Apart" at Taurus Crafts Centre nr. Lydney. Absorbing, beautifully detailed B/W prints of Forest & Wye landscapes.
Through the works of photographers Ansel Adams and Fay Godwin, Jonathan became fascinated with the emotive power of the black and white image and its ability to portray often unseen facets of the landscape and our influence upon it. When taking photographs he frequently uses calm and patient juxtapositions between natural beauty and human detritus. Jonathan creates shapes and images that highlight how we have refined and reconstructed the landscape. Through these photographs Jonathan hopes to elicit an emotional and thoughtful response from the viewer.
