Mary, known as "Sparkly Mary" is showing and selling her innovative range of work at the following venues 2009 - JUNE 20th-21st Ruardean Church Forest of Dean, AUGUST 6th - 9th Bristol Balloon Fiesta, AUGUST 29th - 31st. Craft & Design at Wrest Park Beds. NOVEMBER 6th - 8th Art Craft & Design Newmarket racecourse. NOVEMBER 20th - 22nd. Blenheim Palace Oxon. NOVEMBER 28th - 29th Christmas in the Mansion Wrest Park Beds. DECEMBER 3rd-6th Craft in Focus Richmond Greater London. Mary has been developing a method of laminating handpainted silk with other materials, producing a unique creative and practical outcome. The finished material is a hard sheet and can be sawn sanded, polished and drilled. She has patented this process. Using dyes that can be vibrant or subtle the result is a reflective shimmer of colour that moves with the light even though it is on a flat plane. Mary is negotiating some innovative uses for this process i.e.splashbacks, screens, wall dividers in kitchens,bathrooms,showers, anywhere your imagination takes you Mary says! Recently added, really great range of light catching guitar scratchplates made to order, range of colourful sparkly place mats, coasters and garden mobiles. Mary has a successful range of Jewellery which is sought after at her various yearly events. Her first love is painting - exploring colour & textures.Mary studied Visual Communications at Birmingham and spent 8 years doing picture restoration under a master restorer in the Malverns. Another speciality are her oil painting and paintings on silk - she has explored the art of silk painting, developing new techniques through experimentation.
Mary lives in a beautiful part of the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire and welcomes visitors by appointment.
