Nature in Art is the world's first and finest Museum dedicated exclusively to Art & Nature. High Quality hand Gifts in their well stocked shop. This very special Museum in Twigworth Gloucestershire, houses a vast collection of illustrious artists and makers work from Scott and Sutherland to Dali and Epstein. Housed in a fine Georgian mansion, 2 miles north of Gloucester, surrounded by open fields,streams and sculpture garden, it is owned and managed by a registered charity, Nature in Art Trust. The Museum has free parking, lunches/ coffee/teas home made in pretty conservatory -restaurant, Gift shop, is Family Friendly,and has wheelchair user access. In the sculpture garden areas there's Artists in Residence studio, Education Centre and a continuous program of workshops, events and talks. Housed in Galleries over two floors, the unique selection of artworks, sculptures, textiles, prints, ceramics and carvings all relate the natural world, fauna, flora, wild animals, birds, insects etc. They represent many countries, periods and mediums.
In scope, appeal and stature the growing collection is unrivaled and unique. The collection spans 1500 years with pieces from over 60 countries by 600+ artists. Artists as diverse as Picasso, Shepherd, Dali, Audubon, Epstein, Wolf, Middleditch, Jan van Kessel, Moore, Kuhnert, Lalique, Liljefors, Sutherland, Tunnicliffe, Scott and many more, together with the work of Gloucestershire contemporary artists and makers. By focusing on Nature in all its' forms, decorative, applied and fine arts, the collection embraces far more than paintings of international importance. The museum enjoys the support of around 1000 season ticket holders who make regular visits to the museum to see new displays as well as the comprehensive programme of temporary exhibitions. Together these activities help to cultivate an appreciation and understanding of the depth and diversity of art inspired by nature - from the totally abstract to hyper realist. This approach it is hoped, enables the exploration of the common ground between art and science, between conservation of nature and the artist,it highlights particular styles and media in a new context. Unique to Nature in Art is its' comprehensive program of artists in residence. Each year around 70 international artists spend a week demonstrating their skills to the public. Many have work in the museum collection. There's a year-round education program for children and adults in the education centre plus special exhibitions with invited artists from all mediums and countries.
