The Royal Forest of Dean College has a thriving and expanding Creative Industries Department. The courses cater for both young 16-18 year olds and to the mature student. The courses below are a sample of what's on offer in the exciting world of art/design/media/photography/I.T./film/ graphics/fashion and marketing. For more details, look at the College website. These courses run from September 2009 to July 2010, There are also many leisure courses running in Arts and Crafts throughout the year.
BTEC FOUNDATION DIPLOMA 1 year. Post A-Level. Covering, Fine Art, Drawing, Graphics/Visual Communications/Photography/Digital & Film Media/Market Strategies, 3D Design and Fashion Design. Written research is integratedwith practical work. You'll explore these mediums before selecting an area to specialise in. Excellent preparation for entry to Higher Education - University Degree. Mature Students welcomed. You will build a portfolio of work, gain understanding of how art, design, craft and communications could feature in your future education and career. It will help you learn necessary practial skills to develop ideas concepts.
Entry requirement normally 1 A level or equivalent - supported by 3 GCSE passes at grade C or above. You will attend an Interview & submit a portfolio containing drawings, drawing books, paintings, etc.
BTEC FIRST DIPLOMA ART&DESIGN Entry Requirements - 2 GCSEs at Grade A- D. You will study Fine Art(2D & 3D)/Graphic Design/ Digital & Traditional Photography / Textiles & Fashion / Computer Graphics & Printmaking.
BTEC NATIONAL AWARD IN ART & DESIGN - 1 Year.Entry Requirements - 4 GCSE's grades A - C or Level 2 NVQ qualification.
You will study Graphic Design/Fine Art/Life Drawing/GarmentConstruction/ Digital Imagery / Computer Graphics/ Illustration.
Route 1- Award in Art choose up to 2 AS Level courses to study alongside. Route 2- Award in Art plus short course in Photography or Fashion Design.
Year 2 Progression - to persue subject for another year you can proceed onto either a NATIONAL CERTIFICATE or a NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN ART & DESIGN.
