Steve is a Forester and very experienced metal designer/blacksmith. He has a keen sense of history and is interested in how the past influences contemporary design. He studied at Hereford College using traditional tools and methods. Steve is very well respected as an expert blacksmith/ metal designer with 24 years experience, specialising in Interior and Exterior decorative and functional metalwork. He has mastered an impressive range from armoury & knives to art nouveau bedheads, hand rails and decorative features. He has carried out many commissions including work for the Dean Heritage Museum and stately homes in Oxford. Recent commission - Steve made 10 stainless steel large scale palm trees. He is adept at translating complicated briefs, working with architects and designers as well as talking to you about your idea for your new feature. Often organic and flowing in design - chairs, bed heads, tables, light fittings, candle stands, handrails, finger plates, fire baskets and toasting forks. Often asked to make wedding rings, Steve is happy to make a range of Gold, Silver, Copper and Bronze Jewellery. Interested in armoury and weaponry, Steve has restored armour for Sealed Knot and also designs and makes fine carbon steel knives with pattern welded blades. Weather vanes and decorative railings and gates have become popular. Steve will work with you to your own designs and ideas. Influences include Celtic, North American and African legends and history, plus Japanese and Mediaeval culture. Work is usually to commission.
